obtained from the supply officer or the designated
assistant.
No space will be secured in such a man-
ner to prevent access by use of damage control
equipment during an emergency.
All keys to supply spaces will remain
aboard ship in a key locker.
A key log will be maintained to identify
the holder of the key.
Combinations to combination locks will
not be recorded in writing except as prescribed
in the NAVSUP P-487.
All key padlocks should be 1 1/2-inch pin-
tumbler type, with a dead bolt made of either
brass or bronze.
Keyless padlocks should be the three-
combination manipulation type.
SECURITY SPACE GROUPINGS
Supply department spaces are organized into
groups as prescribed by the NAVSUP P-485.
These groupings are shown in figure 1-3. The
supply department is required to split the spaces
into groups to meet the many different security
requirements.
Group I
This group is made up of general store spaces,
including storerooms, special lockers, and related
spaces. The lock to one of these spaces will be
opened by an original or duplicate key different
from keys to any other locks.
